The Editorial Workflow: Step-by-Step

Phase 1: The Desk Review (Initial Screening)

  • Step 1: Technical Check. The Editorial Assistant checks if the submission is complete (blinded manuscript, separate title page, CRediT statement included).
  • Step 2: Plagiarism Screening. Every paper is run through Turnitin or sistemantiplagiat.ro. Papers with high similarity scores – over 20% are rejected immediately.
  • Step 3: Scope Match. An Editor reviews the paper for “Knowledge Dynamics” relevance. If the paper does not touch on Management, Knowledge Transfer, or Digitalization (AI), it is “Desk Rejected” to save the reviewers’ time.

Phase 2: The Double-Blind Peer Review

  • Step 4: Reviewer Assignment. The Editor selects at least two independent experts. To maintain the Double-Blind standard, reviewers never see author names, and authors never see reviewer names.
  • Step 5: Review Period. Reviewers are typically given 3–4 weeks to complete the Reviewer Evaluation Form.
  • Step 6: Editorial Synthesis. The Editor reviews the two reports. If they conflict (one “Accept,” one “Reject”), a third reviewer is brought in.

Phase 3: Revision and Decision

  • Step 7: First Decision. The Editor sends the decision to the author: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.
  • Step 8: Author Revision. The author submits a revised manuscript along with a “Point-by-Point Response to Reviewers.”
  • Step 9: Final Verification. The Editor checks if all “Hot Topic” integrations (AI/Technology) and ethical disclosures are now correctly addressed.

Phase 4: Production and Publication

  • Step 10: Copyediting & Proofing. The paper is formatted to the JKD style. The author performs a final check of the “Proofs.”
  • Step 11: Diamond Open Access Release. The article is assigned an issue and published online. Since there are no APCs, the paper is immediately made available to the global public via the Academy of Romanian Scientists website.
